Procedure
The process so that the patient can see the new tooth in his mouth, is thanks to the new dental implants (like the ones made by BioHorizons), almost immediate in normal conditions and it is not a painful in most of the cases. The results are so satisfactory that in the end you are not even able to see the slightest difference between the natural teeth and the implanted ones. Each case is different; therefore, the process can be longer for some people than others. For example, ten years ago if the patient did not have enough amount of bone in the place where the tooth was needed, the dental implants were not possible. At present time, this problem has a solution since the bony matter can be reconstructed by means of bone graft from the same person or from demineralized bone, coming from human or bovine. This constitutes one of the most significant advances for the development of this type of prosthesis. The loss of bone occurs when the tooth is lost, and without this support the dental implants cannot be placed. The fact that dental implants are manufactured of titanium helps to that these and the bone they become one and, therefore the crown and the support is strong enough as to resist all the life without having any problems to chew. When the process of bone reconstruction is finished, which can last from 6 to 9 months, the dental implant is placed through surgery, with apparatuses and procedures that maintain a low temperature as a requirement so that the osseointegration is made. After this process one hopes that osseointegration take place, depending on each situation this does not exceed 3 months in the inferior arch and 6 months in the superior one, in that period a temporary prosthesis is placed. If everything is going well, the crowns or the prosthesis are finally made with the form and the color of the other teeth of the patient.
Advantages of dental implants
Several options exist to replace a tooth, but dental implants are considered to be the best achievement of science in this sense and to the highest level than it is possible to aspire when there is dental loss, since the other alternatives can be uncomfortable, to have aesthetic problems or not to be so resistant to time. Dental implants can last all life whenever they have been placed in a suitable form and with the necessary care. In addition there is no need to wear away healthy teeth, since it is made to prepare what we call bridges. The patient can eat and speak normally. With dental implants is possible to solve many problems, for example, with five implants we can replace the teeth of one arch. It can be done with fixed or removable teeth.
Contraindications
In the case of the contraindications, people with uncontrolled diabetes cannot have dental implants, because the capacity of healing in these cases is not ideal. Patients with osteoporosis without control are not suitable. |
